Hard disk of a system is considered as a major part of the system which stores and keeps all files and folders. Raw hard drive means a drive without any file system. File system is a way to store files logically on the drive. Without setting a file system on the drive you can’t read or write on it. So it is compulsory to set a file system on a drive and this is called formatting. Formatting of hard drive is performed at the beginning before partitioning. You can also set different file systems on different partitions of a drive E.g. If you have partitioned the drive into three partitions then you can format one partition with FAT file system and other two partitions with NTFS or HFS. But sometimes these formatted partitions appear as Raw and thus you lose all data from Raw drive. There are many instances when a drive appears as Raw. At such time you need to perform recovery of partition from Raw drive with the help of a partition recovery tool.
Some of the situations when a Disk appears to be Raw are:
- Missing system files: If case any of the important system file is missing or lost due to small mistake like accidental deletion or formatting then the operating detects the drive as RAW and all the data in the drive becomes inaccessible.
- File system corruption: Sometimes the file system configured on the hard drive gets infected by the virus and becomes corrupt or destroyed. In such situation also the Operating System considers it as RAW and inaccessible.
- Improper Re-formatting: While reformatting a hard disk partition if the process fails or gets interrupted due to any human or technical errors like abrupt shut down then also the disk partition becomes Raw thus resulting in loss of all data stored in it.
- Abrupt system shutdown: When the system gets abruptly shut down due to power surge or when it is enforced to shut down improperly before saving opened files and folders then it result in file system corruption which consequently makes a drive Raw.
When you try to access a Raw drive in any of the situations stated above then the operating system will show error message which will prompt you to format the partition. If you have also encountered with the same situation then just relax because you have found the solution. Partition Recovery Tool is one of the best and efficient utility to restore Raw drive partitions. It can help you to restore NTFS partition, HFS partition and all other types of partitions from a RAW drive. It is also compatible with various versions of Windows Operating System. You can use the tool to perform Raw disk partition recovery on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2008 and Windows 2003. User can even perform deleted partition by employing this software. This software supports recovery from major brands of hard drive such as Toshiba, HP, Hitachi, Western Digital, Iomega etc. Have a look at this page www.partitionrecoverytools.com/software-for-deleted to learn technique to recover deleted partition.
